The Polish Armed Forces hosted the 1st CISM European Sailing Championship, which was held in Wegorzewo from 05:th till 12:th September 2004 .

This was a championship at a very high sporting standard and all participants were more than satisfied. All the activities proved to be very well organized, carrying a good social impact and they were highly appreciated by all participants. The perfect collaboration between the local sponsors, military brigades and civilian dignitaries proved to be an immense success and a real promotion for our yachting. The organizing committee showed a genuine sense for the detail.

It was possible for the national delegations to send two teams each to participate in these competitions and so it was done by the following countries:
Russia , Norway , Sweden , Denmark and Poland.
The result was the participation of 28 teams, which made the championship very exciting and entertaining for both the competitors and the spectators.

All athletes were lodging in bungalows of a very high standard in a holiday resort at the lake where the races took place.
There was a nice CISM club centrally placed in the main building where also the restaurant and secretariat were located.

The Polish Delegation has expressed its intention of hosting the next year’s CISM European Championship in Sailing, and on behalf of all sailors participating in this year’s championship I can truly say, that we are looking forward to going to Wegorzewo in 2005.
